We're currently using DOORS v7.1 and will be upgrading to v8.3 very soon, with a proposed upgrade to 9.3 sometime in the new year.
What I could do with are some details of the differences that our users (and me, come to that), can expect from these two upgrades.
I'm not really after any GUI differences, more to the point any issues with, for example, existing v7.3 scripts that we may fall over during either of the two upgrades.
Does this kind of information exist anywhere?
My priority at the moment is obbiouvlsy v7.1 to v8.3.
TIA

You should contact your Rational Tech sales team to get details about the new features of each upgrade. If you do not know them, please contact me via private msg and provide your contact details and I can assist in finding who your tech sales team is.

As far as DXL is conserned, the newer versions may have some minor bugs that could cause DXL problems; I recall one dealing with setting the focus on a particular DBE; but routine simple scripts wouldn't rely on that. The only real potential problem deals with Regular Expressions whose engine was replaced during IBM's 'blue washing' of DOORS in 9.2. IBM says both [1] "should" work identically, and [2] be sure to test thouroughly. [2] seems prudent to me. There is a new 'regexp2()' perm they said should be used from now on; don't know what that's all about.
I had a list of DXL issues when we migrated from v6.1 to v7.1, but don't recall any such issues since then.
Having said that ... As much DXL as I've written, I have yet to deal with 'module versions'. This matters since newer DOORS allows you to retain link between baselines. But so far all of my old 'for link in object' loops seem to work just fine, but I never do that when the module in question is in a baseline. So, it seems to me that if you have scripts that look at links inside baseline modules, you some testing to do.

We updated from DOORS v8.1 to V9.1.2 during spring and summer.
We uncovered some issues with views using some v8.1 Wizard DXL to show links that once we were live in v9.1.2 was not displaying all of the info as it had been created in v8.1. We ended up getting IBM Rational DOORS support for a special client patch that is unpublished to general DOORS community. I believe that they have incorporated those fixes into any subsequent version patches ie. for 8.3 to 9.2 now.
We are holding fast at v 9.1.2 server & v 9.1.3 client. most likely will wait for DOORS 10 or whatever they end up calling it by then. We have such a widely distrubuted DOORS network that it becomes a major undertaking to keep rolling these every six months updates to clients & servers while trying to keep from confusing the engineering community about how to work with the NEW and improved versions so often.... my soap box speech... ;)

Apologies for the delay in coming back here, I've had problems getting access for a few days.
Thanks all for the replies.
I think I'm comfortable with the information I've got from here and that we can test our scripts before going live anyway. I believe the plan will be to upgrade from 8.3 to 9.2 early next year, which gives us time to iron out anything we find.
If I do come across any issues with scripts I'll post them here for future reference.
